Pupil Premium Grant

What is the Pupil Premium Grant and who is eligible?

As described by the Department for Education, the pupil premium gives the school extra funding to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils.  It is designed to address inequality by giving the school and the teaching staff the resources needed to help their most disadvantaged pupils, allowing the school the freedom to respond appropriately to individual circumstances.   Further details on the rationale behind the grant can be found by following this link to the DFE website: Pupil Premium

Principles

At St. Mary’s, in accordance with our Mission Statement, we are committed to providing a high standard of education in a supportive and stimulating environment where all children can learn and develop their full potential.  In ensuring that those children attracting both the Pupil Premium  grants meet this commitment we aim to ensure the following : -

  • That teaching and learning opportunities are differentiated to meet theses children’s needs so that their attainment and progress is at least equal to that of their peers;
  • That appropriate provision is made for pupils who may be vulnerable and disadvantaged to their peers which includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged children are assessed and addressed;
  • That the social and emotional needs of the children are met to ensure they can access the national curriculum;
  • That any additional special educational needs children eligible for PPG and PPG+ funding might have will be met too.
