PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a hard working and active body. A committee of 25 people who give generously of their time and expertise. All committee members are elected by the parent body of St Mary’s School and meet each term. The PTA has adopted the Model Constitution of the National Confederation of the Parent Teacher Association (NCPTA). The PTA raises valuable funds to enable the school to purchase ‘extras’ and supports the ethos and community spirit of the school through an organised and regular event programme. The PTA are supported by a Class Representative system, this system strengthens home and school communication and actively supports the fundraising work of the organisation.
During recent years the PTA have provided funds for St Mary’s to enhance the quality and provision for our children. PTA projects have included Interactive white boards and IT equipment, Gifted and Talented/Religious Education resources, Digital blue cameras, books, updating the playground netball area, Dance workshops and gardening projects. The PTA also funded the very attractive pagoda on the top playground
In July 2007 the PTA’s biggest project provided an outdoor learning environment for foundation stage children. This has provided the Reception children with full unlimited access to the outside learning area; rain is no longer a problem. The shelter has been a great success and has had huge benefit to the children. This year we aim to revamp our school library and develop a “quiet area” for KS2 children.
The PTA runs a busy programme of events, which aim to involve the whole school community. Details of events are circulated to parents via the children’s book bags, the PTA provides a newsletter and information is always available on the school’s web site.
The PTA remains strength of the school; the hard work of the committee and Class Representatives enhances the life of the school and helps to maintain good relationships between home and school.
Further information can be obtained from the Chair of the PTA –
Mrs Debbie Parkinson as well as from the school.
